Gerard Valcin
World famous Haitian artist Gerard Valcin who was born in 1925 and died 1n 1988, left behind this precious *vodoun  scene of Houngans (vodoun priests) going through their rituals to the drum beat of their disciples. Seldon Rodman, said of Valcin in his book 'Where Art Is Joy: Haitian Art - The First Forty Years' "Gerard Valcin and Wilmino Domond, next to Andre Pierre himself, were the dominant figures of the second generation."

*Vodoun is an African tribal religion brought to the Caribbean by African slaves &  combined with elements of Christianity. It should not be confused with Voodoo which is essentially a caricature of the religion created by  Hollywood.
