Gesner Abelard
Gesner Abelard was born on February 22, 1922 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He studied sculpture at the Ecole Industrielle under Ulberman Charles then joined the Centre d'Art In 1946 where he began painting. He was awarded the bronze medal in an exhibit that celebrated the 200th anniversary of the founding of the city of Port-au-Prince in 1949. He is best known for his lush unusual trees and birds.. His paintings have been exhibited worldwide.
